My name is René Winteraeken, your Fishing Guide for Limburg.

The Netherlands is an excellent country for sport fishing: you don't need to travel far to catch beautiful fish. Especially Limburg has much to offer the sport angler.

Carp, barbel, zander, pike,asp, trout and catfish, are just a few of the many species of fish you can find in the Maas.

As a fishing guide I believe it my duty to ensure you have a most enjoyable day fishing. I will show you the best fishing locations to help you catch that price fish, and hopfully to teach some valuable tips and techniques along the way.

If you have no angling experience, I can show you the first steps to a most interesting hobby.



Limburg has much to offer in the field of Sport Fishing.

The river the Maas, the lakes the Maasplassen, the stream the Geul and the many other lakes and ponds, you find in Limburg provide a variety of fishing locations.

Both experienced anglers and beginners can benefit from my expert advise and guidance and I will hopefully help you to enjoy an unforgettable day of fishing.

My field of expertise in fishing consists mainly of pike fishing and carp fishing, however, I also am quite adept in sea fishing and fly fishing for which I regularly organize fishing trips to the coastal county Zeeland.

Are you unfamiliar with the world of fishing or would you like to learn to fish for certain species of fish you have never fished for before? I can help you familiarize yourself with new equipment, techniques, bait and fishing grounds.

The choice is yours when it comes what method and what species of fish you would like to fish: coarse fish, predatory fish, carp, trout – it is up to you.

The schedule for a day fishing is as follows: after a short introduction we set of to the fishing location . Once there I will show you how to prepare and I will give you some relevant information about the fish we are hoping to catch. Whilst fishing, I will introduce you to a variety of techniques, equipment, burly and bait. All questions that may come up whilst fishing, I will happily answer, since the objective is for you to enjoy an instructive and interesting day.

Should you not have a fishing rod and additional equipment, you will be able to hire these for a small fee.


The more experienced anglers who would like to try their hand at something new, I can advise and guide when fishing for pike, zander, barbel, carp and trout.

Those wishing to try fly fisthose wishing to go sea fishing I can organize a trip to Zeeland. There we will be fishing from the beach for flatfish, sea bass and garfish, to name but a few of the fish you can catch from the beach. Of course, should you prefer to go sea fishing from a boat, this can also be arranged.

For sea fishing you will need to bring your own fishing tackle, however if you do not possess sea fishing rod, a carp fishing rod of 3.6 meter (11.8 feet) with reel. I carry a stock of appropriate lines and bait, which can be bought if required.

As company outings, I organize fishing trips to trout farms, during which participants get on the spot tips, help and advise over trout fishing.
